Indian Saris Emporium was established in 1962 by Nemji K Shah.
The store has been synonymous with textiles, starting in a 300 sq ft small store which stocked matching fabrics, 2*2 mill spun materials and handwoven fabrics. He was the sole proprietor of Indian Saris Emporium.
For the next 30 years this family-run brand earned the Hyderabad customers’ trust and became a household name for unique fabrics. In 1998 due to the adjacent road widening he had to vacate this shop and moved on to open Indian Emporium in Jan 1999 – a beautiful 1300 sq ft showroom located in the heart of the city right next to the Chief Ministers Camp Office.
After thirty years, the family baton was passed on to his sons – Amish Shah and Gaurang Shah.
Here too the best of the handwoven fabrics, sarees, (along with accessories like the saree petticoats and border-falls) created from various parts of the country was stocked to meet every requirement of their loyal customers.
From 2001 Indian Emporium started stocking exquisite handwoven sarees and Gaurang started doing Exhibitions all around the country. Over the years, Gaurang went on to become a leading name in the saree industry, offering every weave of our country. With more than fifty years of considerable brand name, national and international presence and stores across India, Indian Emporium is poised to scale even greater heights.
An iconic heritage brand steeped in tradition, Indian Emporium upholds the core values of Trust and Quality, catering to traditional customers and converting generations of new sari-owners into their loyal patrons.
Ancient methods of production from hand looms to wood block printing to embroidery and embellishment, flourish alongside modern methods and motifs. That is why the appeal ranges from the classical to modern. There is an inspiring amalgamation of the East and the West, the North and the South, of the past and the present, of the loom and the handcraft of the individual and the Universal.
